What is your price????

Like any other girl around the world, I grew up listening to stories of my prince charming. My knight in shining armour who would come, win me over and take me to his palace. The beautiful gardens, the blissful lakes and the serene surroundings were a constant fixture in my dreams. As I grew up, I realized that all was not as hunky dory as I thought it to be.Reality was not even a faint hint of the stories, which I grew up listening to.

A knight would definitely come, but only when I would bare the expense of his horse. He would take me to exotic locations, provided my Dad paid the air tickets and hotel bills. We would have a lovely home but only if it comes as part of my dowry.

Welcome to the world of  hypocrites!

We are living in the twenty first century. The age of technology, development and progress. We boast of the numerous advancements of medicine, science and art. But, in the humanities department we are yet to open our account. Now, though I have my issues with the government, I don't blame them in this regard, as they have made the needful laws against the practice of Dowry. All my grievances are addressed to the numerous wannabe suitors out there, who in spite of their foreign degrees and seven figure salaries, don't think twice before making their prospective in-laws  go bankrupt.

In their quest for knowledge , the young men today, seem to have left their common sense behind. I don't intend to be rude, but I find no other reason which could justify their hefty price tags. The most appalling aspect of the whole deal is that there isn't even a hint of remorse for their actions

I'm not here to make anyone realize their mistakes or misdeeds.I am just replying on behalf of my sisterhood out there who are dying to get their voices heard.

My Dear Suitor,

Riding on a horse I dream t you'll come my way,
not the least clue, that would be my dad's pay.
your finery was the best you could find,
the glitter of your jewels to make one go blind.
massive feast and your attitude callous,
results of my tattered palace.
thought love and care was all you need,
affection and concern couldn't suffice your greed.
wanted money more than your pocket's hold,
traded yourself for your weight in  gold.
sorry honey! I'm not you preferred one,
cause I believe not in buying trash by the ton!

Hay you there, who approached me thrice ..my dear suitor what is your price??
