Degrading courtesies

The memories of that day are still fresh in my mind when my mom reprimanded me for not calling my watchman .."uncle". The other day as I was taking a stroll in my neighborhood, I saw a similar scene to the one in my childhood, just the script of the characters were slightly changed. The kid was a kindergarten student from one of the many international schools in the city. He was yelling at the watchman for not helping him with his bag while his mother proudly watched on from a distance of about 5 yards. Though amusing initially, the incident left me slightly disturbed.I expected the mother to correct the kid for his rude behaviour and tell him to speak to elders in a polite way. But, the lady in question was so blinded by her son's mischief that all she could do was to gift him a chocolate and applaud him for his amazing way of asking for help.

The child, no doubt would be good in his studies and get into a very big software firm. But when he yells the same way at his girl as he did to the watchman will the young lady put up with his unruly behaviour. In our quest to master many a science are we leaving behind the essential courtesies which are the footprints of education??

Man is distinguished for apes by his behaviour,
the evolution is going back oh! my saviour!
To greet a teacher, the students stand,
in the world of internet, it is banned
Farm to fork as they say,
reduced to "hands at work"(pizza) with gay.
Inviting your friends home was good,
farmville invitation is now all you could.
Courting has been the key to life,
saying sorry is forgotten even to your wife.
Said someone all good things end they meet,
Changing courtesies-the new trend is today's tweet.

What is the perfect SIZE?

The four lettered word which managed to evoke maximum attention in the year gone by, apart from the revered LOVE and the most preferred cuss word,  is SIZE .The size bracket in most of the stores and homes is XS, S, M, L, XL,XXL. Personally, for most of the mere mortals the first two sizes are a dream, the next two hardwork and the last two sizes reality. Does perfect size relate to the vital stats alone??? Cant the other things which differentiates us from apes be right sized ???So,somewhere in between we might as well assume that there is a size which has to be perfect in all terms. So, what is the perfect size???

We can somehow fix the right size for the waist, chest ,biceps ,thighs etc, but what about other menial things which also affect us in their own small ways like love, compassion, hatred, jealousy, concern, care and the others.Though we have grown up with worlds like immeasurable love, infinite care and selfless concern , a look at cases of obsessive love and meaningless hatred raises a question in my mind. Can we right size our emotions?

The perfect wardrobe will have all the essentials in tailor made precision.Should a perfect life have a balance of the emotions as well.If emotions cannot be measured and controlled why would personality management companies be doing such good business.

So here is my shot at the perfect size of many things which make life worth living
  • LOVE        XXL
  • COMPASSION  XXL
  • HATRED XS
  • JEALOUSY XS
  • CONCERN XL
  • CARE XL
  • GRATITUDE XXL
You might have noticed that in my wish list too, the sizes are mostly extreme. This is a gentle reminder to all of us that most of the perfect sizes are not so perfect after all.
It is this imperfection which makes all of us special in our own ways.
Tailor made emotions will always remain a dream. But what about the things which are not stitched to perfection but deliver extraordinary results??  I am an ardent admirer of the sensuous six yards of cloth .Draped in so many styles across India , but the end result is always the same- THE WEARER LOOKS LIKE A DREAM. We are good people too.Let not the scissors of hatred and jealousy destroy our well spun care and concern.
